CIMBRE Undergraduate Student Award

CIMBRE is looking for motivated undergraduate students who are excited to work on the interface of Mathematical and Biological Sciences.

We are interested in recruiting several undergraduate students to participate in projects aligned with CIMBRE’s  interdisciplinary research for Spring 2025.  Each project may suggest additional requirements for applicants, but in general a biologically or mathematically oriented candidate should have:

Biologically-oriented student candidate: sophomore or junior or senior level standing; have taken BIOL 303 (Cell Biology), MATH 151 or 155 (Calculus 1); strong communication skills and a strong interest in biological research including working on a team project involving data collection and analysis, mathematical modeling and simulation.

Mathematically-oriented student candidate: sophomore or junior or senior level standing; have taken MATH 225 (Differential Equations), BIOL 100 (Concepts of Biology) or equivalent; some programming experience; strong communication skills and a strong interest in biological research including working on a team project involving data collection and analysis, mathematical modeling and simulation.

There is financial support that includes part-time support throughout the Spring 2025 semester. Candidates will also be expected to participate in appropriate CIMBRE events, to learn about manuscript preparation, and learn to give scientific presentations including a presentation at URCAD.

If interested,  please fill out the the details Google Form which identifies a project of interest and contains a resume, and a personal statement of interest, and an unofficial copy of transcript by January 5th.
