CIMBRE has its origins in a 2010-2015 NSF grant to Jeff Leips and Nagaraj Neerchal for the Interdisciplinary Training for Undergraduates in Biological and Mathematical Sciences (UBM@UMBC). Long-time faculty collaborations, stemming from this time along with many others that have grown, warranted a community to celebrate these research endeavors and inspire further work. These endeavors inevitably attract the interest of students similarly enamored of this interdisciplinary work. We strive to expose our students to multidisciplinary methods and prepare them for the groundbreaking work of tomorrow at this interdisciplinary interface.
